SCAD really downs anime. I understand why and it kinda makes me sad but what is even sadder is that I’m losing the anime in my style. I feel like my style is all over the place. I can draw anime, I can draw really organic stylized characters, I can draw edgy, I can draw realistically, and I’m slowly finding my own style but I can’t help but to question myself. Is this really my style or am I manipulating myself to stay away from anime? I want to find a medium that connects the beauty of the two art styles of anime and a stylization of pixar-ish characterization.
I’m so confused. I don’t even know if I should call it anime because I know better. Anime is Japanese animation but then Manga is Japanese comic book. So what is the Japanese art style called? What is the American/European/Australian/…etc. called? Is Chinese art considered anime? I need to clear up this definition.
Personally I love anime. It is what inspired me to draw in the first place so I owe it to them for that. Though, I’m not sure if it is the style of art or the story that inspired me in the first place.
So many questions.
Print for Professor Chayka’s Class. We had to do our alter ego and I don’t think an alter ego as someone’s complete opposite. I mean, it CAN but I think an alter ego as something or someone that’s hidden inside their true personality or something/someone they’ve always wanted to be. Anyway, that’s my interpretation of it. I wanted to be a superhero for nature, a nature guardian, but more down to earth than those flashy marvel superheroes.
